How to book the best Nags Head vacation home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • To book the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Choosing and booking the perfectrental:

  • Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Whalebone Oceanfront 4 Bedroom Cottage E has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If not, call the property management company before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is right for your group.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a certain Nags Head destination you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
  • Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
