Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Nags Head rental home experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Nags Head. Book your rental property in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- To start, have your group agree to trip dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Adorable semi-oceanfront cottage in Nags Head. Steps to the beach & ocean views! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you book the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your vacation.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. message the host right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
