Tricks and tips to get the very best Nags Head vacation property experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose and book the perfectrental:

  • Select a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
  • Private Pool, Hot Tub
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your contract.

Additional considerations:

  • We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
