Booking the best Nags Head vacation property experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Nags Head. Reserve your Nags Head vacation home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • Start by choosing vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Dog-friendly home with bunk room, alfresco deck, pool & beach access has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's an individual Nags Head beach you are enamored with, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or could be applied to your invoice.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Contact the host right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
