Summary:
Take a step back in to simpler times. Your family and friends will appreciate this 1950's Fisherman's bungalow charmer - a little hidden gem in OBX! The property has been painstakingly remodeled to bring back the good ol' days while providing guests with all the amenities of home.

We're dog friendly - WOOF! We do have a two dog max. policy (no cats, please!), but no additional pet costs. Located across the street from a beach access, the two bedroom, one bath bungalow sits on a semi-oceanfront lot. The building has been lifted so you can savor vistas of the sound, catch striking sunsets, and watch kite-boarders in the distance. Other property features include WIFI, flat screen TVs (3), a well-supplied kitchen, and a fire pit.

One of two cottages on site, the property is a part of one of the few bungalow courts still existing in Nags Head.

There is a two-dog max., we do not allow cats, and we do not charge a pet fee. There is no smoking allowed in the unit. This unit is not handicap accessible.

Thank you for considering Tandem Cottage!

Getting the best vacation home experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies supply Nags Head area travel guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Make a plan and choose a perfectvacation home:

  • Start by choosing your a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Tandem Cottage: Cozy Coastal Cottage, Short Walk to the Sand! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before booking the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your family.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. text the rental manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
