Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Nags Head vacation home experience:

Finding your best deal:

  • Reserve your Nags Head rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.

How to select the best rental in the Nags Head area:

  • Choose vacation week and spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Charming Peaceful Cottage, South Nags Head, Short Enjoyable Stroll to the Ocean has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, email the host before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's an individual Nags Head destination you are enamored with, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
