How to book the best Nags Head vacation property experience:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Book your Nags Head rental property in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, management companies supply Nags Head area travel guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Catching Rays 3 Bedroom Townhome in Dunes South has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property owner before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what is best for your vacation group.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
  • Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More tips for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
  • Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to inspire more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
