The Captain’s Quarters is an apartment centrally located in the heart of Nags Head. This freshly refreshed 600 SQFT apartment is located just steps from the beach and it has everything you need for a great vacation. The Old Nags Head style covered-porch faces south and has vistas of the beach access. The bedroom has plenty of closet space and a queen size bed. The freshly remodeled bathroom has a full size tub shower and a 36" vanity. The living area has an open floor plan with a full size kitchen, dining area and living room. The living room has a couch, coffee table and flat screen TV. The covered front porch is located just off the living room. It is a great place to take in the salt air and relax. The apartment is a fast 1 min. walk to the beach. The Albatross Street Beach access is located only 300' (less than a football field!) away. The apartment is within walking/cycling distance to many well acclaimed sites on the Outer Banks, including, Jockey's Ridge State Park (via signaled Hollowell St crosswalk), the new (2017) Town of Nags Head Dowdy Park, The Nags Head Fishing Pier, Tortugas Lie Restaurant and many other attractions. The apartment is also within Biking distance to the YMCA via the Town of Nags Head's new Multi-use path.

When to go & When to book:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. To book the largest rental home within budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.

Tips for your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
