Nags Head vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Get the most from your budget:

  • To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Hot Tub has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. If not, email the host before booking the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or may be applied to your contract.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make sure damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the host immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
