Tips and Tricks to get the best Nags Head vacation home experience:

Sticking to a budget:

  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Reserve your Nags Head vacation in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Selecting and booking your prefect Nags Head vacation home:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. A Chance For Total Relaxation, Beautiful Sunsets, Beach, Pool, & Golf Access! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

More considerations:

  • Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • At Check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to stimulate more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
