Strategies to get the best rental home experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Nags Head area. Book your rental in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Nags Head area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First, have your group agree to a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. 6145 Linkside Dunes * Golf Course Views has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the host before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
More tips for your visit:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many difficulties.
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the host immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
