Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Nags Head vacation home experience:

When to reserve a Nags Head rental home & When to go:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in Nags Head. To get the best value, shift your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Choose dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Cute and comfortable 3 bedroom cottage, 3 minute walk to the beach! has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the host before booking the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual Nags Head destination you crave, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of concerns.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • To make sure no damages are linked to your visit, record any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
