Our top Vacation rental home tips:

Finding the best rental value:

  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Book your rental home in Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Some owners offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to select the best vacation home in the Nags Head area:

  • Start by having your group choose dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 4 bedroom in Nags Head, 5 minute walk to the beach! Outdoor amenities galore! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your family.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Have a great stay:

  • Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. text the property manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
