Tricks and tips to get the best vacation property experience:
Sticking to a budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To book the best rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Nags Head attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have offers and deals for local tours and attractions.
Selecting and booking the perfect Nags Head rental home:
- To start, have your family decide on vacation dates and a budget.
- 730 ft to the beach
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before reserving the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- If there's a certain Nags Head beach you crave, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. Contact the host right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
