How to get the best Nags Head vacation home experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Nags Head area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First and foremost, have your family choose dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Unbelievable Oceanfront Views! w\/Hot Tub and Large Deck Space in South Nags Head has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head vacation rental search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain Nags Head beach you simply love, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • At Check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a fantastic time? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
