Tips for getting the best rental experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To book the best rental home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many property management companies supply Nags Head area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Finding the best vacation home in Nags Head:

  • To start, have your group choose vacation dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. The Mermaid Lounge: Sound View & Pool Access has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. Otherwise, contact the property manager before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Advice for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during check in. Call the property manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
