The spectacular new North Carolina Aquarium Complex at Jennette's Pier is also only a mile north of The Cork and the very fashionable Outer Banks Fishing Pier/ Fish Heads Bar and Grille is a mile south. Bodie Island lighthouse, the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center, and the Cape Hatteras National Seashore are only mins. away. A short drive takes you to Roanoke Island and all its attractions including the N.C. Aquarium, Festival Park with its replica of the good ship Elizabeth II, the Lost Colony outdoor drama and Fort Raleigh National Historical Site. You can see, hear and smell the ocean from the home and it's just a few steps away. South Nags Head features a five mile long multi-purpose "super-sidewalk" where visitors can bicycle, jog, or just walk safely away from traffic. Inside, you'll find all stainless steel appliances in the kitchen, a comfortable living room, and an upper level den with ocean vistas. There are also many other pleasant places to sit and read or chat including 3 decks facing both East and West so you can catch the sunrise or the sunset; some rays or some shade. Booking the best Nags Head rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Nags Head area. Book your Nags Head rental in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area travel guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • To start, have your family commit to date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Semi-oceanfront in quiet South Nags Head! Charming and comfortable. has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to propel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
