Tips and Tricks to get the best Nags Head rental home experience:

Sticking to a budget:

  • The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First, have your group agree to the best dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Oceanfront Condo with Stunning Views and Playground! Winter Availability! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you book the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Call the property manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to drive more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
