Strategies to get the perfect Nags Head vacation rental experience:

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the best value, consider changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning, picking, and booking a perfect Nags Head vacation home:

  • Start by choosing trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Summer Special\/RIGHT ACROSS from OCEAN\/Fenced yard\/pet friendly has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the host before booking the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
  • If your group is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
  • Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a terrific stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
