Strategies to get the optimal Nags Head rental experience:

When to go & When to reserve a rental home:

  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • To find the best rental within your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Nags Head attractions and restaurants.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning and choosing the perfect Nags Head rental:

  • Start by having your group commit to the best dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Phelps: Semi-oceanfront w\/private pool, hot tub, rec and media room & elevator! has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. If not, call the host before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Add the host's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the host right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
