Strategies to get the perfect rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitors guide magazines which include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose and book the right Nags Head rental:

  • Select dates and budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Herons Haven 2 Bedroom Condo with Water View! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the host before reserving the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what is right for your vacation family.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • To make certain that damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Contact the rental manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
