Tips to get the perfect Nags Head rental home experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • Summer time is high season in Nags Head. Book your rental home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.

Filter your rental search:

  • Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Pet-friendly oceanside Nags Head home w\/ hot tub & fenced-in yard! has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property owner before booking your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
  • If there's a particular Nags Head attraction you simply love, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

More considerations:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
