Rental booking tips and tricks:

When to visit & When to book:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Nags Head area. Booking your Nags Head vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Choosing and booking the perfect Nags Head rental home:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a budget.
  • Private Pool, Hot Tub
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available online. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your group.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.

Tips to have a smooth stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
