Tips for getting the perfect Nags Head rental home experience:

When to visit Nags Head & When to reserve a Nags Head rental home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Nags Head. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many management companies supply Nags Head area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. • Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Oceanside - short walk to beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property manager before booking the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what is suitable for your group.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or applied to your contract.

Know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • Upon check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to propel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
