Nags Head rental booking tips:

When to book & When to go:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To book the most suitable rental home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Nags Head restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

How to pick the best rental:

  • Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Take It to the Limit: 16 Bedrooms, oceanfront, pool, elevator, hot tubs, rec room, theater room! has 17 bedrooms and 16 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head vacation rental search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's a particular Nags Head destination you are crazy about, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

More tips for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many issues.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To make certain damages aren't linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the property manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
