Nags Head rental home tips:

  • Booking your Nags Head vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

More tips for your stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
  • To make certain damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the property manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
