Our top Nags Head rental home tips and tricks:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Nags Head area. To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Filter your search:

  • To start, have your group choose the best dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Sea Pointe 8B: Oceanfront ? Ocean views ? Community Pool ? has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your trip.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
  • Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

During your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. message the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many problems.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
