Tips to get the best rental home experience:

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Summertime is high season in Nags Head. Book your rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local Nags Head area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Finding the perfect vacation rental in Nags Head:

  • Start by having your family select the best dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. New w\/ Swimming Pool & Hot tub in Nags Head! Walk to Beach, Central Location! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is best for your vacation family.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
