Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Nags Head vacation property experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Summer months are high season in the Nags Head area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.

  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to drive future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review.
