Strategies to get the perfect Nags Head vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • To get the best rental home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Nags Head attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many management companies supply Nags Head area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and pick your prefectvacation home:

  • Select a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Beachfront Views, Private Beach Access & Hot Tub has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head rentals search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your group.
  • If there's a certain Nags Head attraction you simply love, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Tips for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
