Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Nags Head rental experience:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Reserve your vacation home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, property management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First and foremost, have your family agree to trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Beachfront Views, Private Beach Access & Hot Tub has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.

Tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
