Nags Head rental booking tips:

When to book & When to go:

  • Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitor guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Selecting and booking the best Nags Head rental home:

  • First, have your family commit to date ranges and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. K1138 Driftwood. Gorgeous Oceanfront, Pets OK, Pool, Hot Tub! has 8 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's an individual Nags Head destination you long to visit, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to compel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
