Tricks and tips to get the perfect Nags Head rental home experience:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Reserve your Nags Head rental property in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitor guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting the best vacation home in the Nags Head area:

  • To start, have your group select dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Pierview Unit 205 - Just One More Splash, OBX Oceanfront Condo has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property management company before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or could be applied to your invoice.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
  • During arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a terrific time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
