Tips to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the best value, try changing your family's Nags Head vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many property management companies supply Nags Head area visitor guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose and book the best Nags Head rental home:

  • Begin by choosing vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Carolinian: Semi-oceanfront, Pool, Spa, Pool Table has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property management company before booking the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your group.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

Considerations for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
  • To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the host right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
