Finding the best rental home experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To find the best value, shift your family's Nags Head vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies supply Nags Head area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Begin by selecting a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Calypso's Dream (North)
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the property owner before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what is best for your vacation family.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs applied to your contract.
  • Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of problems.
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to stimulate more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
