Strategies to get the very best rental home experience:

When to visit Nags Head & When to book:

  • To find the most suitable rental within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Nags Head area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local accommodations and attractions.

Planning and picking the perfect Nags Head rental home:

  • Start by choosing trip dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Shelly Shores - Hot tub, community pool & tennis courts, great views has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head vacation rental search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • If there's an individual Nags Head attraction you simply love, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
  • At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
