Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Nags Head vacation rental experience:

When to visit Nags Head & When to book:

  • The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Summer months are high season in the Nags Head area. To get the best rental home within your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Nags Head area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting and booking the bestvacation home:

  • First and foremost, have your family commit to dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Shelly Shores - Hot tub, community pool & tennis courts, great views has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before booking the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual Nags Head beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More tips for your visit:

  • We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Upon arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a great time? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
