Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summertime is high season in Nags Head. Book your Nags Head rental property in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many property management companies supply Nags Head area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Village of Nags Head home with private pool! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to inspire new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
