Our top Rental home tips:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To book the largest vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Nags Head attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Selecting and booking the perfect Nags Head rental:

  • Start by selecting your vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Southern Reach: Soundside Golf Villa w\/ Beach Club Access and Sunset Views has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property owner before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental

More tips for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many problems.
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • To make certain damages are not linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
