Tips for getting the perfect vacation home experience:
Find your best deal:
- Summer months are high season in Nags Head. To find the best value, consider changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the Nags Head area, The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Selecting the best vacation home in the Nags Head area:
- Choose your dates and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. ? \"The location + accommodations are simply perfect.” has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. message the property manager immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to inspire more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
