OBXConsign! carries sought-after brands like Broyhill, Stanley, Henry Link, Lexington, Lee Industries and American Drew at discount prices. Nearly every inch of every room is filled with fine tables, over-stuffed chairs, lamps, sofas, dining chairs, and outdoor wicker furniture. There is also a selection of local art, some Sally Huss products, and gift cards and prints. Consignments are accepted with a 90-day contract. When it’s sold, 60 percent goes to the seller, and 40 percent to the store.

And it does in fact sell stationary, as well as photo paper, printer paper, notebooks and legal pads. Nearly anything you need for a school project or an office presentation is available here, from pens to paper clips, to yes, staples. This chain store, located next to TJ Maxx in Nags Head, is well organized and has signs pointing customers to the products they need. In addition to standard office necessities, Staples also stocks a large supply of computer equipment and laptops; digital cameras and accessories; Kindle e-readers; digital recorders and GPS; wireless technology and accessories; and smart phone accessories. There is an excellent selection of computer programs, including for Mac. A variety of desks, file cabinets and rolling desk chairs can be found at the rear of the store.

Whatever a homeowner needs for their beach cottage, they’ll likely be able to find it here. The first hospital on the barrier islands, The Outer Banks Hospital is a full service facility offering in-patient and out-patient care. Since it opened in March 2002, the hospital has met the health needs of a year-round population of about 35,000 that expands to more than 250,000 at the height of the tourism season. The Outer Banks Hospital has 21 comfortably-furnished private rooms, with two of its beds designed for mothers to stay in all stages of birth: labor, delivery, recovery and post-partum. There are also two operating rooms for general surgery and another for Caesarian sections.
