Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation property experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Summer is high season in the Nags Head area. To find the best value, change your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitor guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Tequila Mockingbird: Semi-Oceanfront, Private Pool has 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

During your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Contact the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
