  • Cottage
  • Approximately 700 square feet

Sea Spray Cottages were constructed in 1950. There are 5 bungalow in total, each bungalow is similar to the others, but unique in its own way.

My wife and I have been operating the SEA SPRAY COTTAGES OBX for vacations units since 2009. We run a mom and pop operation, an experience from a day gone-bye but thoroughly appreciated by our guests.

Sea Spray Cottage #5 is ideal for those looking for a cozy space to savor time at the beach. It has 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other bedroom has 2 twins. It has a comfortable living room with wide-screen TV, living room/dining area and wide galley kitchen. You will not believe how comfortable and appealing it is until you spend some time there. If you are looking for a private hideaway or to vacation with just your immediate family or just you and just your significant other, this is the place for you.

Dogs are welcome, we try to keep it to 2 (it's primarily a bungalow for folks- not a kennel). $125 for the first two and $100 each after that but you must let us know if beyond 2, PLEASE.

The location can't be beat, the beach is just across the street and at about mile post 11.7 (just south of Nags Head Pier and north of Snow Bird's Soft Serve Ice Cream) where all that Nags Head has to offer is close by.

The bungalow has an splendid front porch with expansive vistas. The porch is great for calming and appreciating your favorite drink as you watch the world go by as folks walk, run and bicycle along the multi-use path that is across the street. The bungalow also has an impressive back porch with a bistro table for morning coffee or an intimate dinner.

Bed linens and towels NOT supplied, but our assistant manager, Billy has a side gig where he can suite you up for a fee. Just ask for his number. Check in is at 4 and check out is at 10:00.

If your desired dates of travel are not available in this bungalow, we have 4 others. There are 5 cottages in total at Sea Spray Cottages OBX, all similar in vintage, but unique from one another. If you are a regular on the Outer Banks, they are the gray cottages with the pink doors on the beach road in Nags Head.

Finding the best rental experience:

Finding the best value:

  • Summer is high season in Nags Head. Book your Nags Head rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many management companies supply Nags Head area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.

Tips for your stay:

  • Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the rental manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peace. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
