Our top Nags Head vacation rental tips and tricks:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Nags Head area. To find the best value, change your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain discounts for local shops and restaurants.

Make a plan and pick your prefect Nags Head rental home:

  • Choose a group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Stunning oceanfront Nags Head vacation home with elevator! has 11 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a certain Nags Head destination you long to visit, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

Some things to know before you go:

  • Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
