Tips to get the very best Nags Head rental experience:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the best value, consider changing your family's Nags Head vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking yourvacation home:

  • Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Steps to Beach*Private Heated Pool*Elevator* Jennette's Pier has 5 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property management company before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your group.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your visit, record any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the rental manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
