Finding the best Nags Head vacation home experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the best value, shift your family's Nags Head trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Make a plan and pick your prefectvacation home:

  • Select your dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Bay Meadow 20: Soundfront, spectacular sunsets, dog-friendly, elevator, community pool has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head vacation rental search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property management company before booking your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Tips for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. message the property manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
