Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.

  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. If not, email the property management company before booking your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is right for your vacation family.

Tips to have a smooth stay:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
