Rental property booking tips:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in Nags Head. To get the best value, shift your family's Nags Head vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, management companies supply Nags Head area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and choosing a perfectrental:
- Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Renovated has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property owner before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
- During arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
