Guest Review:
I just wanted to write to let you know how much we appreciated our stay at the Outer Banks last week. We golfed, fished, shopped, saw the sights and casual in this handsome home. Please extend our sincere thanks to the owners of the home. The home was beautiful, contained top of the line cooking supplies and the furnishings was well chosen. It was very comfortable. The one thing I couldn't find was a book to share our experience in. I hope I didn't overlook the opportunity to share our great time with the homeowners. Thanks, also, to all of you for your outstanding service and help. I would highly recommend you to anyone wishing to visit Nags Head.

Tips and Tricks for getting the best Nags Head vacation property experience:

Sticking to your spending budget:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in the Nags Head area. Reserve your vacation in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Nags Head area visitor guides which will include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to select the perfect vacation home in Nags Head:

  • To start, have your family select dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. K1215 Serenity in Nags Head. Oceanfront, Pool, Free Pool Heat-Select Weeks, has 8 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. If not, call the property owner before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your visit, record any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the host immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to stimulate more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
