Tips to get the best Nags Head vacation rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Summer months are high season in the Nags Head area. To book the best rental home within your budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Nags Head attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Nags Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Nags Head visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.

Planning, picking, and booking your prefectrental home:

  • Start by selecting trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Freestyle Surf-Inn: Hot Tub
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. Otherwise, call the host before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's an individual Nags Head beach you are enamored with, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To make certain damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. message the host right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
