Tips for getting the best Nags Head vacation home experience:

When to reserve a Nags Head rental home & When to go:

  • Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
  • In the Nags Head area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking your Nags Head vacation home:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. A Block from the Ocean in Nags Head - Hot Tub has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Nags Head vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If not, contact the property manager before booking the vacation home. • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Tips for a wonderful stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
