How to find the best Nags Head vacation home experience:

Find your perfect rental:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Book your Nags Head vacation in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • In the Nags Head area, The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies supply Nags Head area visitors guides which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to choose and book the rightrental:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. A Block from the Ocean in Nags Head - Hot Tub has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If not, call the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the property manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
