How to book the best vacation property experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Book your Nags Head vacation in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Nags Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Filter your search:

  • Choose vacation dates and budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. One of These Nights: Ocean views, private pool & hot tub, rec room & elevator! has 12 bedrooms and 13 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the host before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is best for your trip.
  • If there's a particular Nags Head beach you love, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Record any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
