Located in one of the most beautiful and historic neighborhoods in Nags Head, Wreckless Abandon is the ideal setting for your next vacation. From the covered front porch, you can savor cool breezes off the Roanoke Sound and some of the most handsome sunsets on the East Coast. Full of Old Nags Head appeal, Wreckless Abandon has been refreshed with all the modern amenities for a comfortable vacation. The bungalow, much like the Outer Banks itself, has a unique history that you will learn about upon checking in.
You will appreciate the home's family friendly layout. Upstairs there are 2 cavernous bedrooms with elegant Sound vistas. Each bedroom has a private vanity and toilet and there is one shared tub. On the main level, you will find 2 bedrooms, 2 full baths plus a den where you can catch up on work or find a good book. Appreciate the roomy living room divided into an area for watching T.V. and another for chatting around the fireplace, playing games, or reading your favorite book. This floor also has a enormous, well supplied kitchen and a light filled, spacious dining area ideal for sharing a meal with appreciated ones.
Wreckless Abandon is conveniently located within a short drive of local stores, multiple grocery stores, and quality eateries. It is also the ideal location from which to launch your Outer Banks adventures. You will only be a three-min. walk from the Jockey's Ridge State Park Estuarine Access where the entire family can relax and play in the calm waters of the Roanoake Sound. The shallow sound waters don't have the currents and waves of the ocean and never have "red flag" days! Like watersports? Launch your kayak or paddleboard from this close by beach or, if you like your adventures a little more fast paced, this is one of the best places for kiteboarding or windsurfing on the East Coast. Jockey's Ridge State Park is also the ideal place for a nature hike. You can spend hours exploring the vast 427 acres of hiking trails, sand dunes, and striking maritime forest.
The Outer Banks is known for great fishing, and if you wish to bring your boat, we have plenty of room for your trailer.
An memorable experience awaits those who make Wreckless Abandon their Outer Banks vacation destination!

Getting the best vacation property experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Nags Head. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Nags Head area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

How to select the best vacation home in Nags Head:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Soundside views in Nags Head! 4 bedroom cottage with tons of charm! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property management company before you reserve the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Does your group require special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.

More considerations:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of concerns.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Upon check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to compel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
