Tricks and tips to get the perfect Nags Head vacation home experience:

When to visit Nags Head & When to reserve a Nags Head rental home:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking your Nags Head vacation home in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Nags Head area visitors guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Nags Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning and choosing yourvacation home:

  • Start by choosing the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Relaxing Oceanside Retreat with Hot Tub. Village Beach Club included! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If not, email the property management company before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's a specific Nags Head destination you love, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the host right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to inspire future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
